Frank Mason was commissioned to create the altar painting at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in the early 1970's. The Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, located on the corner of Mott and Prince streets, is the original Cathedral of the Archdiocese of New York. Since its construction 200 years ago, it has stood in the heart of old New York as a beacon for the Catholic faithful and a symbol of religious freedom in America.
