Connie Sweet is a native of northern Minnesota but spent her young adulthood in Alaska where she started her artistic career. Painting the Alaskan wildlife and seascapes, she developed her talent through years of intense study and her creativity was born out of her bond with nature. Her brush fell silent for 10 years after the sudden and tragic death of her daughter. During this time, Connie pursued a career as a dealer of antiques and art through which she was exposed to reverse painting on glass. After a decade, Connie was so intrigued by the detail and brilliance of reverse painting that she began experimenting with the technique herself. A turning point came when Discovery Channel aired a feature on her work. Reinspired, Connie abandoned her career as an antiques dealer to concentrate full time on her artwork. Other media followed including a full page article in the Charlotte Observer as well as Decor Magazine. Today, Connie Sweet’s reverse painted glass can be found in prestigious galleries, private and corporate collections world wide.
